Otoplasty is one of the first procedures learned during residency. A myriad of surgical techniques and nuances exist. Many have merit, some are ineffective, some destructive, and some frankly fanciful. Adopting an effective and safe technique should be based on proven efficacy and effectiveness to avoid early disappointments. We present a review of traditional otoplasty techniques and more recent innovations. Their pros and cons are discussed in view of the relative risks/benefits balance. Recurrence rates are low for most techniques. Some techniques carry a higher risk of significant complications. A ladder approach preferring techniques that minimize cartilage damage appears advisable.from #ORL-AlexandrosSfakianakis via ola Kala on Inoreader http://ift.tt/2zJIc6m
