Should the colonoscopy patient practice sex and age discrimination?

Female patients frequently request the services of a female colonoscopist for reasons of modesty. The study by Mehrotra et al1 in this issue of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy provides another reason why women (and men) may be clamoring for a female colonoscopist for a more skillfully performed colonoscopy, as evidenced by their higher adenoma detection rate (ADR) in comparison with that of their male counterparts.
