Incomplete polyp resection: still searching for a solution

The effectiveness of colonoscopy in reducing colorectal cancer mortality relies not only on the detection but also on the complete removal of neoplastic polyps. Over the past years we have learned that polyp resection is often incomplete and that incomplete resection may contribute to postcolonoscopy interval cancers.1 We have also made some progress in improving polyp resection: Snare resection is superior to forceps removal of diminutive (≤5 mm) polyps,2,3 and cold snare resection can be safely extended to polyps up to 10 mm.
