Should we use EMR to resect small colorectal polyps? The jury is still out

We read with interest the article by Zhang et al1 entitled "Polypectomy for complete endoscopic resection of small colorectal polyps." The authors concluded that conventional EMR should be the preferred technique for eradicating 6- to 9-mm polyps, achieving higher histologic complete resection (98.5% vs 91.5%), with no additive procedure-related risks and similar procedural duration compared with cold snare polypectomy (CSP). Although the trial by Zhang et al1 was vigorously designed to assess the differential efficacy of the 2 techniques, concerns may arise regarding the safety conclusions of the study.
